Meet the Vet

Hi! I’m Dr. Elisa McAfee, and I’m a veterinarian who specializes in veterinary acupuncture and rehabilitation. I started Acupeture because I wanted to have a practice where animals could truly relax and have fun doing their rehabilitation. In addition to that - I very much love people and wanted to have the chance to truly get to know and help my patients’ humans!

I graduated from veterinary school at UC Davis, then completed a one year small animal rotating internship at San Francisco Veterinary Specialists. Right after that, I got my certifications in veterinary acupuncture and canine rehabilitation, then worked in a brick and mortar rehabilitation clinic in West LA until I started Acupeture in 2022. I also completed a Fear Free veterinary certification because it is SO important to me that all my patients feel safe and happy with me!

I developed a special interest in rehab after dealing with my own orthopedic and neurologic issues since the age of 14. My own acupuncturists and physical therapists have honestly changed my life - they helped me get back to doing the things I love even when I thought it was an impossibility. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the care I received! All of the time I spent being treated for these issues made me want to bring that same life-changing care to my animal patients.

When I’m not treating animals, I am usually playing music. I play keys, violin and sing in several bands - and my husband is a drummer in one of those bands! We have a rescue Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix named Banjo and he’s our entire world.
